Julie Hodges

Julie Hodges was introduced to Iyengar yoga in 1993, while living in Glasgow. She was immediately drawn to the practice; a practice that continues to inspire and guide her every day. She has been a student of senior Iyengar Teacher Pixie Lilas since 1997, and continues ongoing training with her in Sydney. She has studied with the Iyengar family at the Institute in Pune, India. Teaching yoga since 1996, Julie is a certified Intermediate Junior Level 1 Iyengar teacher. In 2007 she graduated with a PhD titled ‘The Practice of Iyengar Yoga by Mid-aged Women: An Ancient Tradition in a Modern Life’. Julie is passionate about the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar. She also teaches Iyengar yoga classes at Southern Cross University in Lismore.

Liz Costigan

Liz Costigan is a Certified Introductory Level Two Iyengar Yoga Teacher and has a background as a Registered Nurse. She has been practicing yoga for eighteen years, teaching for nine and has trained in the Iyengar System for 6 years. Liz is the Founder of Byron Iyengar Yoga and The Byron Yoga Lounge. “Yoga is one of my best friends. I find it liberating for my body, mind and soul. I find the Iyengar Journey an incredible inspiration and guide for every day life”. Liz teaches both dynamic and restorative classes. Emphasis is placed on safety and alignment and adapting the practice to suit individual body types through the Iyengar system.

Claire Evans

Claire Evans, began yoga in 1994 when her daughter was born and commenced Iyengar Teacher Training in 2004. She is an Introductory Level Two Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and continues to practice and study Iyengar Yoga with Maurizio Simon Morocco. Claire also holds Massage Certificate Level 4 and has attained Reiki Level 2.

Karena Williams

Karena Williams has trained in the Iyengar yoga system since 2005. Initially drawn by the effect Iyengar yoga made to her posture and injuries, over time she appreciated the beneficial nature Iyengar yoga when practiced regularly, not just physically, but mentally and spiritually. Karena attends ongoing teacher training with Simon Marrocco, and currently holds a Introductory Level I certification from the BKS Iyengar Yoga Association of Australia. Teaching yoga classes and workshops both private and public in the Byron Bay shire for over 8 years, students have described her classes as safe, challenging and nurturing with the focus being on supporting each individual to experience the freedom Iyengar yoga offers when practiced with intelligence and confidence.
